10 Best Soup, Stew & Chili Recipes (1)

Another updated installment of a BEB Top 10 list!

You’d be hard-pressed to find something more comforting and soul-soothing on a cold fall or winter day than a bowl of warm soup, stew or chili. I love to smell a big pot simmering away on the stove for hours, and then to dig in with a piece of crusty bread, ideally curled up under a big fleece blanket. I’ve updated my list of favorites when it comes to soups, stews and chili, as they are one of my favorite types of food once the chilly weather hits in the fall. A few are newer recipes and some are from deep in the archives; you might find a new-to-you recipe or one you’ve forgotten about!

Is there a way to print them all without having to go into each and every one of them? I would love to have the recipes handy to make them during the week. Yummy!!!!!!

Hi Alexandra, Unfortunately not… you’ll have to go to the individual recipe to print it out.

    Hi Brown Eyed Baker,

Just wanted you to know I made your Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip AND Jalapeno Popper Dip for the Super Bowl this past Sunday – they were both a hit! EVERYONE (and I mean EVERYONE) was raving about them. As you might imagine, the women and young girls were particularly crazy about the cookie dough dip and it was the men (especially my husband) who could not get enough of the popper dip :)
So thank you for putting out awesome recipes that were far better than the game itself! Hope all is well with your little one (our first is due in 3 weeks and we can’t wait!)

It’s 7:30 AM in Connecticut, but the snow is falling and I’m craving a delicious bowl of that Chipotle Chicken and Corn Chowder. I just fell in love with Corn Chowder this Christmas. My mom makes it for special meals, but it has bacon in it and I don’t eat red meat. She made a pot without the bacon, and ultimately I discovered how amazing it is. You took Corn Chowder to a whole new level. I can’t wait to try it. :)

I was already planning on making soup today so thanks for the inspiration. I make a Spicy Corn Chili that is made with hot sausage that is really yummy.

This was the absolute best thing I ran across this morning as I was looking for some cooking to do this weekend. Number three and six really stand out and look delicious. Well they all look so super delicious but it’s a toss up I’m going to be making one of the ones I mentioned. Just made a big batch of stew two weeks ago and froze some but that wouldn’t stop me from making another big batch. The Guinness beef stew looks like it’s to die for.

I am so very excited by Fritos on anything! So the frito pie sounds like a grand idea.

  9. Susan Reply

I made the pasta fa*gioli and the thick and hearty chili this weekend to freeze to eat for the coming week and they are both awesome! Thank you for sharing the recipes.

I’d be interested in a lentil soup recipe, anyways, that corn cheddar soup looks REALLY GOOD!!!

I wish I could have a bowl of each and every one of them for lunch/dinner. They’re all amazing! I love soup because there is always one that you like and there is no way you can go wrong with it.
My all time favourite is “erwtensoep” or Dutch split pea soup. I make it multiple times in the winter and even in spring/summer if I can get all the ingredients. Will be making it soon!

So glad you posted this. I spotted your mushroom soup last year when I discovered and devoured your blog…this reminds me I need to make it. And I made your Italian Wedding Soup. My goodness, that is one tasty soup! As for my favorite: Chicken Tortilla Soup. It’s a recipe I found online ages ago and hubby always requests it. It’s even one of the most tried recipes from the whopping handful of people who subscribe to my blog ; )

Ooo…the cream of mushroom looks very comforting. Have you ever made a spicy lentil soup? I’ve eaten (and enjoyed) them a lot, but I’ve never tried to make one myself. That might be fun.
