Baker wows with VERY simple recipe for Mars and Malteser slices (2024)

An'Instagram famous' chef who built a following of 656,000 during lockdown has shared her simple recipe for Mars and Malteser slices - no oven required.

Eloise Head, 26, is the founder of FitWaffle Kitchen, an Instagram page where she posts videos of decadent desserts that take just a few minutes to prepare.

The amateur chef from Londonposted a tutorial showing viewers how to make a tray of 'chewy, crunchy and chocolaty' slices using seven basic ingredients.

Ms Head - who says they are 'delicious and super easy' to make, even for beginners - uses 100 grams of unsalted butter, 120ml of condensed milk, 245 grams of plain biscuits, 400 grams of chocolate, one teaspoon of vegetable oil and Mars and Maltesers to decorate.

'No baking involved, just a lot of melting!' she wrote in the caption.

To make the base, Ms Head melts the butter and condensed milk, then adds chopped Mars bar, crushed Maltesers and crushed biscuits.

After mixing well, she pats the mixture into the base of a baking dish and refrigerates for one to two hours until set.

Once hardened, she removes the dish from the fridge and melts chocolate mixed with vegetable oil to make it silky smooth, then pours the liquid over the base.

After giving the tray a shake to ensure the chocolate spreads to every corner, Ms Head decorates with chunks of Mars bar and half-cut Maltesers before refrigerating for another hour until set.

A video of the slices has been liked almost 12,000 times since it was shared on Monday, with one viewer tagging her friend and writing: 'This is what we need to make next.'

Others simply said 'yes'.

And it's not the only drool-inducing dessert flavoured with Mars on Ms Head's much-followed Instagram feed.

Last week, the baker posted a tutorial showing viewers how to make an indulgent caramel cheesecake flavoured with the iconic soft nougat-filled chocolate using seven basic ingredients.

Ms Head makes it with 230 grams of Mars ($5), 300 grams of plain biscuits ($3.95), 150 grams of unsalted butter ($5), 480ml of double cream ($3), 500 grams of cream cheese ($5.50) and 200ml of caramel sauce ($4.50), all available from leading supermarkets like Coles and Woolworths.

The base is made by crushing biscuits into melted butter while the filling is an indulgent blend of cream cheese, icing sugar, double cream and chunks of Mars chocolate

To make the base, Ms Head crushes the biscuits and stirs them into a saucepan of melted butter, then presses the buttery crumbs into the base of a 9 centimetre tin.

For the filling, she whisks the cream with icing sugar and cream cheese before adding chunks of Mars into the mixture.

She spoons the filling over the biscuit base and leaves to set in the fridge for six hours, minimum.

Once set, she drizzles ready-made caramel sauce over the top, allowing it to flow down over the edges to coat every inch of the cake.

She decorates with leftover chunks of Mars bar and sprinkles grated chocolate over the top to finish.
