Enginetech bearings, anyone ever use them?

Postby My427stang »

I have a set of BBC Enginetech rod bearings, seem OK, however the bearing surface feels a little rough, like paint sprayed on a little dry. Not real bad, but it got me wondering if these were used by anyone

They are cheap enough to toss LOL However, "Official Bearings of IROC Racing" have to be good LOL

Anyone have an opinion on them? Thanks

Enginetech is the "generic" line of one of the big warehouses. They probably are someone elses bearings, in enginetechs boxes. However, they could be a china copy, like a lot of "their" parts. Kinda like PBM does, they re-box big name companies stuff, and try to take credit as "theirs". Its pretty obviuos, "their" cranks and "their" rods, that have scat rod bolts, and a scat stamp on the cranks, are, scat products. Same with "their" new line of pistons, its obvious they are mahle, with out the coating. Its a pretty common thing in this buisiness

I have been using the Engine Pro and Enginetech lines for stock or mildly warmed over engines for a while now. It doesn't really bother me that some of the stuff is made in Israel or India (Enginetech rod and main bearings) or Australia (ACL bearings). After all, a lot of Federal Mogul and other makes are made overseas.

The parts I have used have been good as far as fit and finish. They have given good service for the applications I have use them in.

I don't think I will use them for highly stressed race-type engines. They don't offer any real high-performance stuff anyway.

I use them to help me compete with every mail order house and his brother's website.

Tom thats good to hear i was going to start using engine tec kits for stock rebuilds. The problem i had is i could not find any feedback from rebuilders that have tried there parts. So for your stock tbi 305 & 350's you have found there pistons, rings, bearings, cams, lifters etc all ok? What about there gaskets??

The gaskets are "Engineered in America, made in Argentina" (says that on the box). I haven't had any gasket or seal failures in the 3 years I have been using the kits. I have seen some of the kits come through with Fel-Pro gaskets (3.1 GM, for example). I do resurface damn near every head that comes though the door; I'm sure that helps.

I always use the premium rings (moly in most cases, made in Brazil) and the cams and lifters are made in America. The industrial/tractor kits often contain OEM parts.
