  • Article Breakdown:
  • Sukuna is described as a very tall, four-armed, two-faced demon.
  • He also seemed to have a second mouth at belly level. Currently, he appears similar to the host he is in (Yuji Itadori), but with spikier, higher hair as well as special markings on his forehead, nose, cheeks, and chest.
  • He also has a second pair of eyes below his normal eyes, which are usually closed.

Who is Ryomen Sukuna actually?

Ryomen Sukuna, more often called just Sukuna, is one of the main antagonists of Jujutsu Kaisen. Also known as the undisputed King of Demons and Master of Curses, Sukuna was a demonic spirit, originally a very real human, living in the golden age of exorcism over 1,000 years ago. The exorcists of that time did everything to defeat him, and his mummified body could not be completely destroyed.

Now his 20 fingers, preserved in funerary wax, passed through the ages as relics. In the present, Sukuna incarnated into Yuji Itadori as the latter ate one of his cursed fingers containing his fragmented power.

Over a thousand years ago, Sukuna was a human living in the golden age of exorcism who fought against many exorcists. At some point in his life, he took on a demonic appearance as well as the name Ryomen Sukuna, and his mummified body became a relic which was subdivided into his 20 fingers (since he had four arms).

After Yuji eats one of his fingers to save his friends as well as his life, Sukuna resurfaces and incarnates into Yuji’s body, much to his excitement. Sukuna then plans to start a massacre but is stopped by Yuji who regains control of his body. When Megumi is about to execute Yuji to exorcise Sukuna, Satoru shows up and decides to test Yuji’s resistance. Sukuna then receives control of Yuji’s body and begins attacking Satoru, but the teen manages to regain control of his body after ten seconds.

Sukuna is an S-class Curse. Considered the undisputed King of Demons, Sukuna possesses incredible strength and presence, a presence that nearly froze his opponents when he awoke in Shibuya. He quickly overpowered and defeated Jogo, the strongest Curse of Mahito’s faction. Even Satoru acknowledged Sukuna’s strength, stating that fighting him would be difficult (but that he would still win). Ultimately, Sukuna managed to kill Gojo by slicing him in half.

With each appearance, Sukuna has proven himself to be by far the strongest Curse of all time. When he was angry, he badly injured Mahito, defeated Jogo without much difficulty, and even defeated Mahoraga, the Ten Shadow Technique’s strongest familiar.

His strength was so great that Mahito and Jogo were convinced that Sukuna’s full resurrection could secure the Age of Curses. Sukuna’s strength is only rivaled by a small number of people, even among the S-Classes.

Sukuna is a rather cold and greedy person. He often tries to take possession of Yuji’s body because he is a person who likes to keep control of the situation without worrying about the consequences. He also has a sad*stic personality and likes to see others suffer, specifically humans, and he never misses an opportunity to make his host suffer.

He has a strong taste for combat and pure strength, is not shy about asserting that a hierarchy not based on power is of no use when talking about the workings of the Tokyo Jujutsu High School, and is even interested in Megumi Fushiguro, whom he finds very promising, even going so far as to save his life.

Despite his somewhat blunt demeanor, he is surprisingly intelligent and calculating. He took advantage of his host’s unconsciousness to take full control of his body, only to end up ripping out his heart to kill him, but keeping his mind in check in case it fails. He will take advantage of this spiritual conversation to offer Yuji a contract.

What did Ryomen Sukuna look like before Itadori?

Sukuna’s past appearance has been described as that of a four-armed, two-faced demon. He also seemed to have had a second mouth at the belly level, based on the illustrations we have at this moment. Currently, though, he appears to be very similar to the host he is in (Yuji Itadori), but with spikier, higher hair as well as special markings on his forehead, nose, cheeks, and chest.

He also has a second pair of eyes below his normal eyes, which are usually closed. He also has tribal tattoos all over his body; more specifically, Sukuna has two lines on his two wrists and both arms, circles on his two shoulders with a dot in each, two-segmented curved lines on his chest, and two lines on his stomach while possessing Yuji.

In particular, he can partially appear on its host in the form of a mouth and/or an eye. Sukuna wears a light-colored kimono with a black brim, a black scarf, and black socks and sandals. This is all we know about Sukuna’s actual visage.

Why do Yuji and Sukuna look alike?

It has not been explained why Sukuna actually looks so much like Itadori. It has been suggested that he actually did resemble Itadori up to a degree, but whether that is just a coincidence or not remains to be seen. It is also possible that Sukuna takes on the form of his host, similar to Kenjaku, who is currently in Geto’s body and is known as Pseudo-Geto.

How tall is Sukuna in his real form?

Sukuna’s actual height is not known at this moment, although it might be revealed later on in the show. We know that Itadori is 173 cm tall, and from what we can gather, Sukuna is somewhat taller than Itadori in his main form, but we don’t know the exact difference.
