This Lime and Strawberry Sorbet recipe is cool, fruity and sweet!
This frozen treat is the perfect way to finish off any meal!
I remember going strawberry picking as a kid. There was a farm fairly close to our house. I remember feeling like the drive to the farm took forever. I guess I was just a little excited by the idea of gathering my own bounty.
My family and I would spread out among the rows. Each lost in their rhythm of picking and eating the red, plump berries. I’m confident I ate more than I picked, but no one ever complained.
The family-owned farm had been there as long as I can remember. It always seemed so untouched. This huge expanse of land out in suburbia.
Over time, shopping plazas and grocery stores sprung up around it. I remember passing the farm’s silos’ on our way to one of the first super-sized grocery stores, not seeing the irony in going to buy fresh produce when this beautiful farm was right in front of us.
Eventually, the family sold a chunk of land which became a park. We’d swing and slide all the while, that old silo was becoming rusty and tired.
Thankfully, I have discovered other family-owned strawberry farms. My kids get to experience the joys of picking fresh strawberries and I get to join them.

How to Make This Strawbery Sorbet Recipe
This recipe starts by making a simple syrup. Simple syrup is a mixture of water and sugar that is boiled down until has thickened. You can flavor your syrup with anything from vanilla beans, fresh fruits, rinds, spices, and extracts.
Once the syrup come together, allow it to cool completely.
Add hulled, fresh strawberries to a blender and puree the strawberries (frozen strawberries will work as well, however, you will have to a little water to the blender). Refrigerate strawberry mixture in the blender for about 30 minutes.
Add fresh lime zest and freshly squeezed lime juice to the berries along with the simple syrup and blend until combined. At this point, you can sample your sorbet recipe and add more lime juice or zest if necessary.
If you are satisfied with the flavor, pour your strawberry mixture into the bowl of an ice cream maker, and once combined, remove your sorbet to a freezer safe container.
How To Make This Sorbet Recipe Without An Ice Cream Maker?
To make the recipe without an ice cream maker, complete all the above steps, up until the last one. Instead of pouring the mixture into an ice cream maker, pour it into a freezer safe container and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
When you start to see ice crystals form, break them up and stir; place the container back in the freezer for at least 6 -8 hours.
