Are you looking for peaceful, relaxing bedroom ideas to inspire your space? Welcome to my light, airy, and refreshing bedroom that’s remodeled on a budget.

The transformation was very easy and I focused on incorporating relaxing bedroom colors like blues, greens, and taupes to create this peaceful oasis. We waited over six years after moving into this house before touching this plain, boring space.

In a nutshell, we incorporated new closet doors, created an accent wall behind the bed, refinished a dresser, and got a new bed frame, so come along for this before-and-after master bedroom tour!

1. Accent wall

This is the first wall you see when you walk into the room. We did quite the transformation on the wall but it was simple. We crafted a simple but open board-and-batten wall. We just divided the wall into three sections and painted it a bright white.

I am not typically drawn to bright white walls but it worked well in this space. So it didn’t feel so stark, we tied it all together with some rich, warmer colors, like in this piece of landscape art I found at Hobby Lobby for $30 on sale.

2. Nightstands

We bought two new nightstands from Homary. They are pretty, rich wood with black handles and legs.

3. Lamps

These lamps from Hobby Lobby have dark wood bases and are topped with a lighter-color linen shade.

4. Bed

We have a new black wrought-iron bed with spindles. It only cost $90 for a queen-sized bed and we found it on Amazon.

5. Layered bedding

The layers of bedding have a lot of texture and we chose earth-tone colors. The comforter is a charcoal navy color. I layered in a taupe-colored quilt from Target and a cream and sage striped blanket from HomeGoods.

The textured throw pillows were all on clearance, from $12 to $20 from T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods.

6. Fan

The new industrial-style fan came from a company called Parrot Uncle.

7. Bench

At the foot of the bed, we placed a bench that we already had. It comes from Homary and it is the same color and style as the bedside tables. I decorated the bench with book boxes, a faux plant, and a throw.

This is one of the biggest things we did in this room. The room used to have mirrored closet doors edged with a brass finish. They were okay but they were not our style and the doors made the room feel dated.

The white closet doors brighten up the space and make the room feel much larger than the mirrored doors did! We haven’t put hardware on the doors yet and we kind of prefer the streamlined look, anyhow.

9. Rug

One of my favorite finds for this bedroom was the rug I found on Amazon from Loloi. It makes a stunning statement in the room. This is a 5-foot by 7-foot rug that cost us a little over $100. The plums, rusts, reds, blues, greens, and taupes tie the room together.

I switched in another dresser that I refinished for this space. This area, including the top of the dresser, is very minimal and sleek. The dresser was mine when I was a young girl. It has been painted so many different colors throughout the years.

We went with Waverly chalk paint, which is a matte black finish we got from Walmart. I added simple matte black hardware from Amazon. The mirror is a find for $40 from Ollie’s Bargain Outlet and it makes a beautiful contrast with the black. Next to the dresser is my faux olive tree in a basket.
