Synopsis
On November 7 2007, eighteen year old Pekka goes to school armed in Jokela, a quiet town North of Finland’s capital, Helsinki. On that tragic day, he kills eight people. The director reconstructs Pekka’s story through conversations with his parents, classmates and teachers. The oppressive circumstances that brought on the young man’s tragic action are slowly revealed clearer and clearer and the spectator realizes that these situations are not unique to Pekka from Jokela.

Alas, this barely scratched the surface, with Pekka observed from a great distance. A shame, as the tale is a fascinating one, and this documentary could have been awesome.

This is a very messy documentary. It tries to open up the troubles and thoughts of a person who could commit such a horrible deed and the thoughts of the people who knew him or witnessed the events.
It lacked a backbone, though. It didn't end up saying much anything (except a bit about school bullying and about being different as a teen) and I just felt like I didn't gain much insight one way or another.
Could have done a whole lot of work with fixing the structure.

important doc and shows the Jokela school shooting from different perspectives but I don't know if it's a good documentary when you have to go to Google to look at the details of the case and the pace felt strange

“Spaghetti: Mmmm …. Good food!”
It seems that all of these school shooters don’t actually know what “Natural Selection” means…
Good documentary though. Juho seems like a cool guy :,) -

Amazing documentary, you get to see into pekkas home life and school life, as well as his online life too. I really recommend watching this.

Fantastic film about Finnish school shooter Pekka-Eric Auvinen with interviews from people in his life (including his parents), people he corresponded with online, and others. A very well done documentary that paints a picture of what could have drove Pekka to commit his school shooting, detailing his bullying and misanthropy, and paints a clear picture of the shooting itself. Recommended viewing for anyone interested in the modern phenomenon of school shootings or mass murder.

It’s not usually a good sign when the most interesting part of your film is footage that’s been shot by someone else. In this case, it’s the interview with Pekka’s parents which was filmed years before for finnish television.
This really offers nothing new. -
