How do I reply to a tell? ›

You can use the Ctrl+R keyboard shortcut to directly reply to players who have sent you a tell message.

Typing /tell or /t [PC name]@[World name] without a message switches the default chat mode to [Tell]. Bahamut.) →Sends a message to a specific PC on a specified World.

To use this feature, select the player's name in the chat log, press X (□ on PS5™/PS4™, X on Xbox Series X|S) and choose "Reply in Selected Chat Mode." Tells allow direct communication with a specific player. Provided that player is logged in, you can chat with them regardless of where you both are. 1. Select the player (or their name from a list) and open the subcommand menu to access the Send Tell option.

Shout chat mode is much like say chat mode, with the sole difference being that messages can be seen by players in a much wider area. Messages displayed in this manner appear in orange. This chat mode is activated by prefacing a message with either /shout or simply /sh.

Generally, I would just say “thank you”. It's the polite thing to say after receiving a compliment. But sometimes a compliment is not just a compliment. You have to read between the lines of the conversation to get a feel of where it's coming from and where it's going.

Sometimes short and sweet (like a simple, “Thanks!”) is all that's really required. Sometimes a longer, thoughtful response is in order (like when a commenter asks you a question). However, remember that this isn't a two-way street. A lot of other people are often reading these comments as lurkers.
